Were there any friendly fire incidents involving American submarines, aircraft carriers, or battleships during World War II or World War I?

Oh yeah. These kinds of incidents are quite common even in modern war, let alone back then.

Here’s another one:

USS Pompano was mistakenly bombed by aircraft from USS Enterprise but managed to escape.

For those who were actually old enough to have experienced the 1970s and not for those who were born in the 70s. What were the pros and cons of that era?
